The book, first published just after the Great War, is a fair reproduction with the exception of the maps. These appear, originally, to have been hand drawn coloured maps, possibly folded, and are referred to in the text. However, the modern copies are probably smaller because the place names are virtually unreadable and they are printed in plain black ink. So when the text refers to 'the red dotted line' you're left guessing. Criticism of the maps aside the book is well worthwhile for anyone interested in the history of this Division. As the preamble at the front states, it was written for those who were there and the families of those who did not return, to quote: 'the views of others do not matter', which considering the subject is horrific Great War battles, I think is a fair comment when written in 1919. If anyone has access to the original coloured maps I would love coloured copies!

give careful thought to what I buy and sometimes can be disappointed but this time all the items were terrific. the books were better than expected, very readable (the stories draw you on to read more) and very informative
