It is no exaggeration this is a very important contribution and must rank highly among the many, many tomes on the subject. It will repay the effort expended in its reading many times over.

The book reflects a lifetime's achievement and presents a deep though lucid summary of nearly two millennia of orthodox reasoning. Not an easy book to digest by any means, but rich in insight and fuel for contemplation. But be warned- as the author points out in his opening chapter, Truth of this nature can only be received by revelation, so only a true believer could possibly understand and benefit from this work. For those of us who are priviledged to know the LORD, this offers an invitation to explore the reaches and limits of our perception of our knowledge of HIM. Keep a Bible close at hand, and pray through the sentences, paragraphs, sub-sections and chapters, and you will be dazzled by the beauty and the richness of HIM Who is the body and substance of our faith.

This is not a book for the feinthearted! It is a hard read but gets you thinking on a deeper level about the centre of our faith: God becoming man. I may give it 5 stars when I understand it properly!
