Stephen Allen's first title for Osprey's Warrior series is a good 64-page introduction to Celtic life in mid to late Iron Age Europe, richly illustrated with black and white photographs of selected artefacts and 10 pages of colour plates drawn by Wayne Reynolds.
Allen points out the shortcomings of our evidence for the Celtic way of life, but summarises current archaeological thinking in a well structured narrative, giving a useful timeline of notable events in their clashes with Greece and Rome and describing the warrior's important place in wider Celtic society, cultural practices and beliefs.
Reynold's illustrations are detailed and do not shrink from depicting the noted ferocity of these warriors on the battlefield in spirited vignettes reminiscent of his work on the series 'Slaine' in the comic 2000 AD, rather than static poses.
The limitations of the book are general to the series rather than to the author, brevity necessitating some generalisation, but providing a good starting point for more detailed reading.

'Cletic Warrior' is a fantastic book to expand your knowledge, as are allof this series from Osprey.
It includes a usefull introduction including some vital questions andanswers including: 'who were the celts?' and a historical outline. Obviousenough, you may think, but you might be suprised by the amount of historybooks that fail to cover the basics of a subject and instead leap right inat the deep end without first covering the foundations.
This book has some wonderfull full-colour diagrams and plates and consicebut managable information on all aspects of celtic life including thestructure of their society, clothing, war, and much much more. Highlyreccomended!

A very good and informative book.

It is one of the volumes in the "Warriors" series and covers the military aspect of a specific culture.

It gives a good insigth on the subject with good illustrations, black and white photographs and drawings.

A good introduction to the subject matter
