Being from Cork myself I would not have cause to buy a guide book on Cork but I happened to come by this recently and was pleasantly surprised when I flicked through it. It is written in a personal style and full of sharp observations. It gets all the detail across without reading like a dry reference book. It packs in quite a lot for a small book and covers just about everything - great bar and cafe reviews, walking tours, cinema, live music, art, bookshops, etc. I think having this book is like having a knowledgeable local to talk to as you walk around Cork City. I am impressed.

The guide had all the expected info about the city. This is definitely a good pocket guide as it is small and light. The suggested walks were good, but lacked a detailed map showing the routes. A good selection of restaurants and pubs mentioned. The book also lacked photos of the city and sights. Some of the information was out of date as the last update was a few years ago.
