I HAVE THREE JOBS AT CHRISTMAS. WRITE DOWN A LIST OF WHO SENT WHAT TO WHICH GRANDCHILD SO THEY CAN ALL BE THANKED PROPERLY. COLLECT A MOUNTAIN OF TORN WRAPPING PAPER FOR RECYCLING THE GOOD BIT ~ READ THE BEST BOOKS TO THE KIDS WHILE THEIR PARENTS DO ALL THE WORK. IF YOU DO THE SAME, THEN MAKE THIS YEAR'S TASK ENJOYABLE BY MAKING SURE YOU READ THEM "THE BOY GIANT". BRILLIANT IDEA. WELL TOLD STORY. ENTERTAINING ILLUSTRATIONS. THEY'LL LOVE IT, AND SO WILL YOU!!!

This is a lovely picture book along the lines of Oliver Jeffers The Way Back Home, telling the story of a little boy who is born big and keeps getting bigger and BIGGER. It's a touching story as Hujo has no friends, has to sleep in the converted garage and can't even give his Mum a proper hug. But a phone call from Barack Obama no less changes everything. This is funny yet sad with an uplifting ending and would actually make a good movie. We have all of Allan Plenderleith's books and this is perhaps my favourite.
