I enjoyed this book.
The range of bikes is wide and the arguments for their importance is well stated, in an objective way.
good pictures, good value, a keeper !

Very average book and too small for a coffee table book. Mildly amused by some of the entries - particularly some of the recent entries, which have not changed the world, let alone are changing it.

For all those that have any interest in either design or the bike, then this is well worth reading.

As the title suggests, the book is about fifty bicycles or technologies that have made a significant step in the process of bicycle design, innovation and those bikes that are iconic in some way or other.

The range of bikes covered, if from the penny farthing to the latest Pinarello ridden by the Sky team. Other models include the Schwinn, the chopper, Boardman's Lotus bike and the Moulton. Each bike has a well written piece of text and images. There are some exquisite bikes in here; and even the one that I ride!

A good idea poorly produced. Some good photographs but many fall well below professional standard. The descriptions are brief leaving a lot of white paper.

A gimmick rather than an encyclopaedic look at 50 bicycles. There are also other 'Design museum fifty' books I will quite happily keep clear of.

Gave this a a present to someone 'into' Bikes and it certainly 'hit the spot' especially as it's not something a young person might buy for themselves.
Dare I say it 'spoke' to the recipient!

VERY pleased - with the historical lead up - Lovely pictures.

Reasonable value for money, a great little gift if you're stuck for ideas.

Very much a personal view/choice of the authors . Very light on technical detail.
