I loved this book, it contains lots of interesting tips on how to maximise space around the house (and/or apartment) and I found it perfectly suits both the family and the single person needs. Practical advice on colour schemes as well as usage of every livable corner. I absolutely recommend this book for those who do not have a very big house or apartment and wish to get innovative ideas on how to maximise its potential.

When space is in short supply you do need to make the most of what you have - this book is full of ideas, from the very simple and cheap to those requiring a full refit of a room with bespoke furniture. If you have just one room or an entire house in need of a reorganisation or refit this book is essential for hints and tips on making the most of what space you have available.

Some of the ideas are essentially free - showing how you can simply reorganise to best effect. Other ideas are more complex and elaborate - there is something for every pocket as well as every space.

The book provides some interesting ideas, in particular for multi purpose rooms, mezzanines and storage. The pictures are good and the advice is straight to the point. Not all the solutions are suitable for self contained studio flats. However, it is a good point of reference.

5 stars to Amazon for having sent me the book at their own expenses when I informed them that the copy I have ordered with the free delivery went AWOL. Excellent customer service.

I really liked this book. We are renovating a Victorian terraced house and we are working with a limited amount of space. I found lots of good ideas in Conran's Essential Spaces and will for sure be using some of them in our design. Good value for money and I think this book is a good intro to the others in this series as there is a section for each room of the house.

Wasn't impressed. Sme of the pictures clearly predate the 2010 publication date and the whole book feels dated. E.g hugh PC monitors and a fax machine in the working areas section.

The Planning and Design section is better than the Decor and Furnishing. Some good tips on mezzanines and using redundant space but overall fairly mean on content.

Disappointing didn't explain how to deal with small kitchens and bathrooms - needed more photos - more real hints and advice wanted
