design but not much substance

This book looks beautiful, like the Leon shops, and has things like stickers and fold out sections. The first section devoted to ingredients is interesting and useful, but not that different from what has appeared in many other cookbooks before - also doesn't really appear to have much bearing on the recipes that follow. Also the recipes are mainly drawn from Leon staff, which means you get a real mishmash of things, from chilli con carne (delicious) to wholemeal pizza (is this really worth devoting a page to?) and a whole load of slow cooking meals. The sausage and kale casserole = ok; the chorizo and tomato soup = delicious. Most of them are available on the Guardian website anyway!
Philosophy behind it, slow food that's good for you and tasty, is admirable, but it needs more and better recipes.
