Good structure, needs updating despite 4th Ed. being published in 2013
on 3 August 2015
The book is well presented and has good illustrations for helping experienced adults gain a grasp of the internet. The exercises and tutorials gradually take you into the power of browsers with a few neat tricks. However, many of the exercises, if not all, are centred on using Microsoft Internet Explorer, which is due to be replaced when Windows 10 comes out and the majority of internet users prefer Google Chrome. This limitation also excludes those using an Apple computer or OSX, which doesn't feature Internet Explorer - unless you do some major tricks. In the book, there is a major error where it asks students to visit www.google.com/index.html that page does not exist and returns a 404 error! Most internet users will use a search engine to find the correct page, hence the book should be updated to reflect that.
