The books content is good. The text and spacing is excellent, the examples are clear and concise. The explanations of the examples are simple to understand and allows you to learn sql.
However, to learn Sql, I would like a book to show me the table sets that I will work with. Create and insert data to those tables, then begin learning sql manipulation of those tables.
With this book I spent more time creating, inserting and dropping tables than I did learning sql.
It was more typing and less learning.
If this book had a fixed set of tables, and then the sql examples it would be an excellent beginners guide.
I would like a book to first have the intro, who the book is for, conventions, what a database, column, row primary/foreign key and so forth.
Second, sql statements and explanations to show you how to create tables, insert data. The created tables to be the tables used throughout the book. No exceptions. This allows the reader to become familiar with the tables and data and write additional queries based on their learning.
Then third show you how to retrieve and manipulate data, showing different ways to do the same action allowing the learner to choose their own style. Distinct chapters per new sql keywords.
