Golf wouldn't normally be my first choice sport to read about, but Callahan writes about it with such lyrical prose that it is hard it put this down. This isn't a biography of Tiger Woods, rather Tiger is the centerpiece around which is wound a wider look at the game of golf as a whole. Plenty of other players come under Callahan's microscope, including Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els and Jack Nicklaus. Those looking for Tiger's definitive birth-to-2003 biography will be a little disappointed, and perhaps the title is a bit misleading, because the author is never really `In Search of Tiger'. But the subtitle is more accurate: `A Journey Through Golf With Tiger Woods'. And a very pleasant journey it is, too.
