Flashes of honesty
on 6 August 2013
The film Emily Lloyd is remembered for was no more than OK, in my opinion and really didn't deserve all the hype it got at the time. I do think this over blown hype led to some of Emily's problems. Once the serious offers started drying up, we see her going through a series of justifications why certain things happened to her or didn't...whatever the case may be.
The real reasons of why she was sacked from so many films are never really explored, one vague reason she offers is she was going through one of her 'episodes', but the nature of her mental illness is never revealed. I can't help but feel these 'episode's' seemed to coincide when things stopped going her way, like when her limited talents were stretched by having the mighty Woody Allan as her director... But that's my opinion, purely based on reading between the lines.
I didn't find Emily particularly likeable either, I think she demanded too much attention from her mother, probably at the expense of her poor sister who definitely had a secondary role in all her drama.
Overall, She is a prime example that only the strong survive in Hollywood, and the truly talented...
