The Man Who Plants Trees

Jim Robbins has written an amazing book about trees and about the man who planted trees. He discusses at length the importance of trees and how they regulate and maintain the global eco-system. He also describes how the destruction of the forests is creating a potential catastrophe for mankind and every other living species. A timely and hugely important book. For tree lovers and non tree lovers - this is a must read.

From the preface:

"Trees are responsible for half the photosynthesis on the land, taking in energy from sunlight and transforming it to leaves, where that energy is usable by insects and mammals and birds. They are highly evolved water management specialists ...".

Read this book - you will never look at another tree again in the same way. If you love nature, plants, animals and the planet - read this book.

First, the book is made from a authentic recycled cardboard. And really is the nicest cover i've ever seen. ( gives a really natural feel to the book ) Its a beautiful book
Ive thoroughly enjoyed the book and read in it about a month and a half. I like it especially as it is the story of a man, and in the respect is a tale of his journey so a novel in a way. But then its combined with the science of trees and facts. Very well written and very easy to read. Can open it on the train for 10 mins and dont need to be fully 100% concentrating. Ive been telling many people about facts and ideas from the book and im an 18 year old boy.
Very highly recommended.

Absolutely loved the book, really opened my eyes to how much more we still don't know about trees and how vitally important it is that research into trees continues.

Only drawback with the hardback is that the cover extends much further than the pages making it a bit awkward to hold and read.
