Very informative, but not quite what I was looking for

I wanted to understand more about the gut and how it works. The first section of the book does go into the workings of your gut, but not quite enough - I would have liked a bigger focus on this. As per the title of the book, it is very heavily focused on diet/food and what you can do to improve your bionome (bacteria in your gut).
I have enjoyed the book, and it definitely gave me food for thought, but as an IBS suffer quote from book "use this as a guideline not the gospel" - So from my point of view I think it will help a healthy person who wants to look after their gut, but if you have IBS for example, I would see a Dr (which I have) and do the FODMAP diet to find out what affects your stomach. Hence many of the things in this book conflicts with the FODMAP diet for my IBS and hence I will not follow it. But again, if you are healthy or simply want to try something before seeing a DR then go for it!
