The book claims to give unbiased information about Christianity and God "in a propaganda-filled world". Hastings is right that we live in a propaganda-filled world, and this book is an example of it. He uses only supporting, and exceptionally poor, evidence for his defense of the Christian world view. Why do religious people always claim that they know "truth" by the way?
Author is extremely biased. In no way is he able to present his claims in a new or original way... or more importantly... present his case in a way that is supposed to persuade the reader and convince him of 'the truth' preached by Hastings.
Footnotes are full of outdated and amazingly one sided sources. Though even they seem to be few.
Author lacks the knowledge of the laws of thermodynamics as well as the historicity of the Bible (actually...lacks bible knowledge in general).
Would suggest jumping off a bridge instead of buying and reading this book... it's free and you don't have to pay for the shipping from the states... if you don't believe me... do buy it abut don't cry and moan that no one has warned you!
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. Do not read this alone! The lack of basic, basic knowledge of science, the scientific method, maths, biology, or even the bible will lead to feelings of disbelief, amusement, hilarity and then deep depression. This book is best borrowed and then read with a group of friends who can provide support to each other.
The self contradictions and fundamental mistakes are so prevalent that they tumble from each and every page. You have been warned. This is one of the few books that really deserves a rating of zero stars. It is the best anti religion propaganda out there. The worst bit is I do no think this was the authors intention but the has certainly achieved it.
I wish there was a no star option! This book is full of tired old arguments that have been refuted and defeated for decades. The authors knowledge of the topics covered is appalling, he uses outdated sources and references, is very biased towards Christianity and doesn't seem to be able to engage with any of the points objectively. He uses underhanded tactics to taint those whose views differ from his own and bigs up any and all who's views agree with his own. All in all a poorly written, poorly researched book that is filled with the authors biased opinions.
