I completely love it, i already love this way of eating and have been doubly inspired by this book. Everything we have made from it since we've had it, which is a lot considering we have had it for a only a week, is utterly delicious! It ticks all my boxes, creative recipes that are simple and delicious, a beautiful book which is well laid out, easy to follow and has lovely photographs, her style of writing and shopping style i.e. seasonal shopping etc.. supports my ethics and values around food production. Very pleased we have this book and am sure it will be our main inspiration and cookery book for a while. The only improvements i can think of are that it would be easier if it had metric weights and temperatures and would have been even better as a hard back.

Knowing that we are vegetarians, a friend sent us this attractive cookbook. It's not a strictly vegetarian work; there are sections on meat and fish, but the sections on vegetables, grains, fruits, etc. made it worth our while. The author covers a very wide spectrum of cuisines in picking out dishes for the book, so there are some great, creative combinations of veggies, herbs, nuts, etc. The book is also nicely photographed.

If it has any weaknesses, it's only that the author attempts to cover all kinds of food preparation--much the way that the classic New York Times cookbook does--but she is limited to 315 pages. Meaning that overall, there aren't large numbers of dishes included. But, what there are, look first-rate and make the cookbook a good addition to any serious cook's kitchen library.

Good essential knowledge and opinion about fermentation, and other natural food-making. The author conveys well that her experience over many years has contributed to the book. Note that the measures are all US imperial and not translated into UK/European.

This is a truly fabulous book! Much more than a cook book, it educates, it inspires and, like the recipes, it leaves you feeling wholesome! Thank you Jenny McGruther for leading the way back to real food and traditional nutrition.

Waited a while for it but it did come from the USA. But worth every bit of the wait. This book is an absolute must for cooks with a fair ammount of knowledge (def not for the complete novice unless you are prepared for a steep learning curve ). If good rustic food and health are your subjects buy this book.
