With Volume 2 being a detour to fill in some missing links, Volume 3 of After the Fall continues from the dramatic end that Volume 1 left us with.

The voices of the characters continue to be on point, and there were appearances of even more unexpected characters which worked in really nicely. Plus we finally learn the name of the dragon, which I can say wasn't a disappointment!

Ultimately this volume was a little less character focused than the previous two, which was a shame since my main connection is with the characters. However, this wasn't such a bad thing, because it allowed more focus on the plot, which finally starts to take a more solid shape (in typical Wolfram-&-Hart-ambiguous-'you-can-trust-nothing' fashion, of course). Plus there were still some prominent character interactions that completely crushed me.

Volume 3 deals a lot more with the idea that events can be predestined which is a concept at the core of Angel-the-show that I'm glad to see coming through in the comics. It was really interesting to see how the idea of higher powers being in control messed with some characters more than others, and with that ending I imagine there will be a lot more of that to see.

With only one volume left I'm uncertain how things will pan out, but I look forward to find out, even if it ends up being painful.

The story running through issues #9-12 of IDW’s comic-book continuation of Joss Whedon’s TV-series ‘Angel’ is collected as Angel: After the Fall, Vol. 3 (Angel (IDW Unnumbered)).

The story continues from the end of volume 1, as volume 2 was a flashback filling in what happened at the end of the TV series and how it all led into volume 1.

We see the conclusion of Angel’s fight with the Demon Lords who currently rule Los Angeles, the gang discovers that Angel is now human, we find out what Gunn has been up to, and why, and an old friend returns from the other side to visit Angel he dies…

The scripting and artwork is very good, and the individual characters mostly look like their TV counterparts most of the time. This is starting to feel like the Angel TV series, but with a bigger budget.

After a brief journey to see the events before Volume One, this Volume goes back to the main storyline and develops the journey that Angel and Gunn have started going on.

Angel gets support when he most needs it as he adjusts to the new reality and his role within it.

Well written with dark and brooding drawings, this is a great way to accelerate the story of the season that never was.

Très content, article fidèle à sa description.
Content de pouvoir découvrir la suite de la saison 6 alors que la France en est à la traîne et à décider de ne pas poursuivre alors que Buffy marche bien.
