Art Journal Freedom, Diana Wakley
on 21 February 2014
I really liked the look of this book, particularly the idea of "freedom" because my artwork tends to be a bit inhibited and finicky. There are lots of techniques that are all in the current fashionable style and they are quite inspiring but I wonder if the artist ever strays from the same formula because all the examples look very much the same. The book also uses lots of so-called technical terms about composition that I'm not convinced about, maybe to justify itself. I hoped I would suddenly produce lots of interesting stuff and unlock my recent mental block but it hasn't happened . Overall it is a nice book to add to my collection but I guess I haven't been blown away.
