Kazuya Minekura's brilliant Saiyuki continues in this, the first volume of the Reload series. This is a good volume, and although not a lot happens that is really important, the storylines are exciting and interesting and there is a deeper look at the problem of youkai unaffected by the curse, as well as another story from the Ikkou's past. This one takes place a while after they met, but before they began their journey, and is both funny and touching. The mini-story at the end is very. very funny. Basically if you were a fan of the first series you're going to want to know what happens next, and this volume is a great start to the second leg of the Saiyuki journey. I've got my mouse poised over the "add to basket" button for when volume 2 becomes available!
