A fabulous book about a seldom preached topic.

I bought this book as i had read the authors great book on the Trinity and wanted to read some more by the same author. Having read this i now intend to try and find more by the author.

The book is well referenced and has enough meat within it to rise well above some of the humdrum of Christian literature at the moment.

Like the Trinity it really does show you how front and centre the Union of Christ should be in all out thinking and relationships.

Fav lines " God alone is Saviour...yet God alone could not save us!...mans sin required atonement by man"

Robert Letham writes well and I like the fact that (as he did with his book on the Trinity) he surveys the material both from a biblical and an historical perspective. One caution (for those who but books on the strength of endorsements, is that I am not sure everyone would understand the "pastoral sensitivity" that Packer refers to in the same way as he does. I think he is right but some may be expecting something different than what they get. But what you get is worth it. And full marks to Letham for reminding us of the importance of this aspect of biblical doctrine. I highly recommend it.
