Wendell Berry is a rare beed of person. He is a humble farmer with enormous wisdom and insite and he is not one to pull punches.
He began writing long ago and this is a collection of his essays put together in the 1980s. It is not dated. If anything his critism of the American 'anti-economy', the proliferation of waste and the degradation of soil is more relevant than ever.
In times when many are, finally, understanding that the World cannot continue in its speed and greed, Wendell Berry is salutary and almost essential reading.
