I bought this because it was recommended on the 101 Cookbooks website and I'm a big fan of Heidi Swanson's clean, colourful recipes. However, after flicking through the pages with a growing sense of disappointment, I could tell that as a cookbook, this is all fur coat and no knickers, which places emphasis on the wonderful lifestyles of its contributors, rather than the actual food. There is no theme drawing the recipes together and very little to inspire.
If you're a person who gets their kicks out of peering into the folksy lifestyles of beautiful hipsters, then go ahead, fill your boots. But there's very little here for the intrepid cook. Unless you've always wanted to know how to make a bacon and peanut butter sandwich.
