Truth be told the contents of this book should have been included in the Crisis in Infinite Earth's TPB. It is unforgivable that it was not part of the Absolute Crisis book. It is basically the book of Genesis for the DC universe circa 1986. It is a heavily illustrated text based book rather than a graphic novel and basically gives the reader a run through of how the DC universe works, what is where and who is who. Think of it as a companion piece to Crisis and you won't go far wrong.
Oh yes, how useful - an encyclopedia of the DC Universe. As it was twenty years ago... This is Wolfman and Perez's follow up to " Crisis on Inifinite Earths ". Quite simply, Harbinger explores the new post-Crisis Earth, smoothing out for the benefit of the unimaginative and the hard of thinking, all those niggly little questions supposedly left after the events of the Crisis. You know - " how was the JSA formed if the Golden Age Batman never existed? " and other stuff that vex the few. Wodges of text explain now-obsolete concepts, people and events against the usual lovely but crowded Perez artwork. Save your pennies for something worth reading.
This book is definitely worth a try, the storyline is great, very enjoyable, the characters are likable and funny when needed, the art is fantastic, it’s good to look at. I recommend this book to anyone who loves comics or just interested in getting to know the genre.
