Author needs to do better to showcase representatives who are not an entertainer

Wanted to love this book, it's simple and clear. My 8 month old is now engaging with the push up parts. However, not sure of all the black figures in the book, disappointing the only one from the UK is a musician...we have black politicians, film writers, authors in the UK. We need more representation in those areas and not in entertainment. If the author had chosen a different figure for the UK contingent, I would have given 5 stars.

It’s only a short book, so it’s not overwhelming for little ones. It’s also interactive to keep them engaged. It’s a great little introduction to black history. I bought this for my son (6 years old) some of the wording could be changed slightly for the age group it’s aimed at, but overall it’s a good book for kids. The illustrations are bright and clear.

I bought this book for use in my nursery room for black history month to add to my provision. When the book arrived it was damaged on the front on the slider which was really unfortunate as I am a stickler for a well kept book. Aside from this the children loved looking through and interacting with each page and learning about important black people in history. It made me chuckle that there were 3 historical figures and then Stormzy (a bit random)! A lovey, informative book which I will be using in my practice going forward.
