I love the way Susan Mallery deals with the traumas in the characters lives and how she introduces the characters for the next book. How she keeps tabs on who, where and what is a wonder, but she does.

Justice Garrett lived in Fool's Gold, CA for a short time when he was a teenager and never thought he would return when he had to leave suddenly when he was in the witness protection program. It was the only place he ever felt was home. He was anxious to see Patience McGraw who he regretted having to leave without warning. She never knew what had happened to him or whether she would ever see him again but never forgot Justice. Once they saw each other again they realized their feelings for each other were just as strong as they were years earlier. Justice has returned to open a bodyguard training facility so Patience is glad to learn he will not be disappearing again.

The character development in this story is quite in depth. You get to know a great deal about the main characters, their lives, and their histories.

As a whole this was a quick, happy, enjoyable read that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. It is another awesome work by Susan Mallery leaving you satisfied yet wanting more.

Unfortunately I had already read #12 in the Fool's Gold series and therefore knew how this books ended, but the amazing adventure getting there was fantastic. I got a completely different impression of Justice in this book than I did in #12. I liked him a lot.

Susan Mallery's latest in the Fool's Gold series is a winner. Single mom Patience is a hair stylist dreaming of opening a coffee cafe`. Justice is a body guard who needs to learn to let love and trust into his his heart. Patience and Justice were childhood friends who seemed to have an attraction. The day Patience had planned to tell her teenage crush how she felt, he disappeared overnight, and out of her life. Fifteen years later, an unexpected windfall from an inheritance gives Patience the funds to pursue her dream--coinciding with the return of Justice and his partners opening his CDS bodyguard training school.

Both find the attraction is as strong as ever, but can they get past the years apart to find a lasting relationship?
Justice has secrets from a his past. Patience has trust issues from a bad marriage. Both must learn to open their hearts to love. Justice learns the love of a family is the most important thing despite his past, while Patience finally finds a man who will stay for her and her daughter.

Read via local elibrary. Found book difficult to get into and felt detached from characters. It started improving and as reviewer says, last quarter good. Author makes a habit of having issues with timelines.this book is no different. Quite a lot of them. Worst, pias meltdown was only few days ago, not weeks as stated as happened day before shop opened snd conversation with justice is few days later. Authors review crew should have noticed this. Also repetition throughout book. I did enjoy the book over all, hence 4*.

Another great entry into the Fool's Gold series! This is my favorite book of them all so far. I love the reconnection of Patience and Justice and their romance was sweet and steamy! I especially enjoyed the new antics of the older ladies of Fool's Gold. They crack me up! The secondary storyline of Patience's mother who struggles with MS, but also finds love was very poignant and well done. Susan Mallery is one author that never disappoints me and this book is no exception. I highly recommend everyone read this book immediately!
