I liked the writing style of this book and found it hard to put down. The characters were totally believable and I found myself really caring what happened to the heroine, Lauren, who was faced with some difficult decisions to make after finding out about her husband's infidelity. Really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend.
Great story, very easy to read, loved the content. Maybe it helped that I could relate to the character. Could visualize the characters. I loved the beginning and how the story started and some of the descriptive language used. I anticipated a couple of the story lines but was completely surprised by others which for me is an ideal book. Would thoroughly recommend it. Lynda
As a busy working middle-aged mother of two I was delighted to find a book that I could enjoy and read easily without having the feeling that I had down-shifted uncomfortably from my pre-family standard of reading. I loathe chick-lit but I loved this book - I felt sympathy for her heroine's dilemmas and I read it really quickly without 'losing the plot' on any level. Well done Teresa, when's the next one due?
An excellent read! This book is really thought-provoking and the characters are so authentic, it's very easy to start imagining how you would try to cope if put in Lauren's shoes. Heart-warming and a perfect accompaniment to any holiday. I love that this novel is creating a new genre in literature and will definitely be buying Teresa Hamilton's next one!
Although this isn't my usual genre, the beautiful writing style and brilliantly crafted characters drew me in from the start. This is the story of Lauren, a forty something wife and mother who, following the betrayal of her husband, searches for the strength to re-gain control of her life. Utterly believable. An enchanting debut. I look forward to more from this author.
This book was recomended to me and I loved the way the author described it as 'Hen lit'.Being a woman of the 'hen' rather than 'chick' age group I was keen to see how it differed to my usual fodder. Without wanting to spoil the storyline I would say that it definately had lots of dilemas and as the title would suggest, choices to be made, seen through the eyes of the main character, her daughter, mother-in law, husband and his love interest. This book is written in a very believable way and was an enjoyable read.
This is a fantastic piece of light reading!! Teresa Hamilton's characters in this "hen-lit" debut are likeable and realistic. The story of a middle aged woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when she has a car accident is compelling reading. You really want to know what happens next, a can't put down read. I cannot wait for her next novel.
