This is such a lovely book. The pies are just delicious with lots of ideas that you don't see in UK recipe books as a rule. It was recommended by a friend who used to live in Brooklyn and regularly posts on pies (and other things) so I knew it would be worth the investment. In the future it would be great to see an English measurements and ingredients translation ;0)
I've been following Four and Twenty Blackbirds on Instagram for a while, and decided to get their recipe book to try out some of their pies myself. The book is absolutely beautiful to look at, and I like the way it is split in to seasons. So far I have made the black bottom oatmeal pie and it was amazing!! Can't wait to work my way through all of the recipes.
Brilliant book! I've tried a half dozen recipes so far (the black and blueberry upside down pie being my current favourite), and have not been disappointed by any of them. A great addition to any baker's collection.
Bought this after Nigella mentioned it in one of her books. Nearly didn't bother because of the price and the fact it would be in American measurements. Glad I did though, as it is a really good pie/tart book. One star missed off because no UK equivalents given. American books never do. This is usually why I don't bother buying US versions.
A lovely book chock full of photos that can make you pile on the pounds just by looking at them - & the recipes aren't half bad either. Get yourself some cup measures & get baking! It's nice to see an American book that doesn't rely on tinned or pre-packaged goods. Yum Yum,
