Read with an open mind and a pinch of salt
on 12 July 2016
I enjoyed this book for the range of topics it covered, I have used it as a springboard to look more deeply into the methods that appealed to me. I think unless you have a lot of time and money you would struggle to implement everything in this book.
Topics I really enjoyed included, baby led potty training, breastfeeding, holistic medicine(although I will say she is anti vax, but she doesn't go into why, just advises the reader that there is a lot of information available and to research themselves) baby wearing, weaning. Topics that stood out which I found very difficult to approach with an open mind include, manners(she doesn't believe you should pressure your kids to say please or thank you), vaccinations, the family bed(her and her husband have 2 double beds in their room and each share with one of their boys aged 5 and 3)
Overall if youre interested in attachment parenting and more "crunchy" methods this book is good place to start. I will be implementing a lot of methods from the book but to a less extreme degree than the author, she is clearly a devoted mother and seems to have done a wonderful job raising her boys
