Having read every book in the growing world of 17th Century Europe created by Eric Flint et al I came to this 4 story collection by Virginia DeMarco with high expectation and those expectations were sadly unrealised. The stories are unintersting with little action being described. Rather it seems to be an extended list of names trying to interact but create little. Sadly this book adds little to the series. Not enough time is spent on plot or setting and leaves the reader confused as to where it will fit in the world being developed. It may suite those who prefer the minutae of social interaction but few characters seem to be developed to any great depth. I hate to be critical of a great series and a book into which has gone a lot of effort but it just leaves me frustrated with so little happening.
