My 5 year old son loves this range of books and has quite a collection now. I think they'll still be of interested in a few years time, and at some point he'll be able to read them to his little brother.
This book is beautifully illustrated and the stories are great. I cant wait to read these to my son once he arrives! These books are the type that you will keep for years and years and look great on the shelf.
Fantastic edition, beautifully illustrated, the stories are very well re-told, truly captivating. My 6-year old daughter loves it, listens with fascination when I read them to her, although the idea of a king killing every woman is a bit hard for her, as a modern child, to perceive. Nevertheless, she is very happy with the book, and so am I.
My daughter has had this for a year now (she is about to turn 5) and loves the book and the stories. It is not baby or toddler stories so I can imagine that she could still be reading this aged 10. My daughter loves books and does not need lots of pictures; there are illustrations for each story but this is a proper book - so some pages with none). I would think that some other 4-year olds might struggle with the lack of pictures. Mine was ready to move away a bit from "picture books". The stories themselves are brilliant - the right length and nice pictures and a lovely sewn in bookmark. We choose a story rather than reading it sequentially and already Sindbad seems long - they are all individual stories and can be dipped into rather than read one after another. This seems to be the UK edition and is PURPLE; I unfortunately accidentally bought another edition from Amazon.co.uk; the USA one as presents for two boys and the USA version is PINK. Although the USA version is larger and nicer cover feel; this book is better as purple and delivery time much sooner.
