useful context to understand key business architecture concepts
on 25 August 2014
Whilst I thought this book was interesting, I did not feel it addressed key challenges being faced in organisations around 'run-change-run'. Many organisations are implementing SOA and BPM which means even more rigour is required in understanding the customer journeys and experiences, being able to define the orchestration layers of process to capture reuse within the engagement actions needed in customer design - not much on the importance of customer design nor linking of capabilities to customer outcomes. I was also disappointed to see there was no acknowledgement of decision management and the game changing effect that is having and Wil continue to have to be able to differentiate value propositions for customers - see Larry Goldberg who also works closely with John Zachman and influence the business motivation elements of his framework. Good book if you are not familiar with the key concepts of bus architecture - not if you want to look at the governance lifecycle or the context of a solution lifecycle and what is required to be in place to manage the business assets across design and run.
