My almost 9-year old son loves this book and has spent hours paging through it and reading the very interesting detail. Fantastic info for adults too! Never too old and sophisticated to learn new things. I would say this book is appropriate for ages 7 and up

I think the title of the book - Geography A Children's Encyclopedia - doesn't do the audience much justice, neither did the other reviewers help much. So let me put the record straight. This is an excellent book for children and ADULTS alike. If you want to know a little bit about geography that you learnt in high school but have forgotten, and you don't want to spend hours reading a dry book, then you will enjoy this book because it simply gives you the main points with professional colourful pictures to back up the subject matter as the backdrop on most pages. The material is not childlike nor are the pictures. It's should simply be titled Geography : A Brief Encyclopedia.

Any parents out there with children in state education and are concerned about the lack of textbooks, then get this. Excellent reference book and very good for helping your child get a general understanding of the world they live in.

This encyclopedia really is just incredible. We have countless books and use the library regularly but no book on any subject has been as brilliant as these DK encyclopaedias. They have just the right amount of content and interesting photos on each page for a 6/7 year old and beyond. The information is concise, not dumbed down but not needlessly complicated either. Absolutely fascinating contents too which is very well organised. I've found usborne books tend to be all over the place with very poorly organised content. This is ideal. It's also brilliant for a curious adult or toddler.
