Good diet but hard to stick to
on 19 July 2017
The premise of this diet is you eat normally (within reason) 5 days of the week and for 2 days you reduce your calorie intake to 500kcal. The book gives me clear instruction on how to stick to this diet and even gives you meal ideas and broken down calories to some foods.
I am very much one of these people that would be classed as a yo-yo dieter. I'm forever in the search for a new way to lose weight. This is a well thought out diet and well written book but however I felt that it didn't do much use.
I stuck to the 5:2 concept for more than a month and while I did feel slightly more energetic on the mornings of my 500kcal days I felt my energy never surpassed the lunch time mark. It may have worked better if I was single or my husband was doing the diet with me but a diet is never harder than when you are watching your other half wolf down a pizza and you're sitting there with grilled chicken and a salad.
Even though I did lose a total of 6 lbs in the month and a bit I stuck to the 5:2 diet and did fit neater into my clothes, the lack of energy at the end of the 500kcal days and the headaches that accompanied them were just too much for me to stick it out. They may have subsided with a more prolonged diet regime but I wasn't willing to find out.
