This could actually be used as a self-help book. Duff is very candid about his problems with drink and drugs and how they nearly killed him. Duff not only stayed alive, he recovered and built a new life.

He tells about his workout regime, nutrition, new friends and the things one inevitably has to think about when becoming sober, like: where, how and with who to hang out? how to date sober?

Of course, as one would expect, the book also offers a great insight into the rise and fall of the original Guns N' Roses.

Was never a huge Guns N Roses fan but was really interested in reading Duff's story, particularly in light of his pancreas exploding and other things I'd heard!!

All in all, a great rock n roll book full of anecdotes and insights into people lie Axl Rose & Scott Weiland. Was also surprised to read that Duff is now a gym / health nut and is completely straight.

A good read - recommended.

not the usual "rock star" autobiography - oh yes it has all the facts and inside stories - but it is also a story about one man's epiphany and his fight to overcome addictions - with some interesting insights into how you may also benefit in your everyday life (whether you have any addictions or not!") apart from all of this - it is a damn good read and difficult to put down!

I was never a Guns fan, but I chose this book on the strength of the reviews. A very enjoyable read not just for fans but for those who enjoy rock n' roll autobiographies. Duff's writing is articulate & sensitive, describing his self destructive early years before becoming clean & changing his life for the better.

well written, but its just another drugs and alcohol fuelled rock n roll story. If you read a lot of these it will be familiar. his subsequent sobriety is testament to his strength of spirit. but its repetitious.

I loved it - although a bit disjointed at the start, very quickly becomes totally compelling- Very moving, it actually feels like you're there with Duff experiencing his feelings. A remarkable man.
And not gory or depressingly dark like a lot of other LA rockstar bios. I love the book and am very sorry to be reaching the end....

Outstanding book, whether you are a GnR fan or not - their impact on music can't be ignored. However this book is much more than an insight into GnR, brutally honest and also inspirational in many ways about the man Duff was and the man he became. A very well written book and incredibly enjoyable.

Everything is here. Depravity, despair, drugs, drink and finally redemption. Duff wears his heart on his sleeve and does not cover up any aspects of his roller coaster of a life. He can make the reader feel so many different emotions in this one book but shows that there is always hope and life can be amazing if you work at it.

Well worth reading. I was a big GnR fan in the "appetite..." era. It was really interesting to find out what was going on all those years ago.
