This was the second Coben novel I read which I read for the first time just after its release back in 2002. I decided to revisit it as aside from a couple of characters, I'd forgotten most of the story but remembered it to be one of those page turning, twisty, keeps-you-up-all-night types of reads. Well I thoroughly enjoyed it second time around too. It just keeps you guessing right up till the very end; you think you have it all worked out but then read a few more pages and it becomes clear you haven't! The plot is very intricate and at times, not altogether believable but then it was never intended to be a story based on truth; as Coben often says, "I make stuff up". I have read some of the lesser starred reviews whose writers have criticised this aspect to which my response would be to take it for what it is; a work of fiction. Just read it and try not dwell too much on whether or not it is believable.
