Good as ever, but lacking in plot
on 30 March 2014
I love Anne Zouroudi, and all of her books have been pleasurable reads for me. The series is by far the best crime solving I have encountered, with its unique way of investigating. I was not disappointed by The Bull of Mithros, however I feel I would have been more enthusiastic had I not read any of her other books. In comparison to previous novels, I felt that this lacked a strong plot line and the solution seemed obvious to me from the beginning. It was in this way that it seemed Hermes was investigating the island's history rather than the crime, and this didn't sit so well with me. I think though that if I was not to compare this to Zouroudi's other work then I would be more impressed and so I cannot judge it too harshly, but as a book in the series it doesn't stand out.
