I liked the way the layout took the reader from print room set up, H&S, stocks and supplies, through to print techniques and design ideas. I used this as a constant memory jog, dip in inspiration and technical manual through my 3 years at art school.
Clearly written and well laid out. If you can only afford one book to start with buy this one.

TOP 100 REVIEWERon 2 May 2012
It's great to see this book going so strong. This is the 2nd revised and updated edition of what is fast becoming a classic for screen printers. Students and established artists alike will find this book useful. It covers a range of processes for creative work with synthetic dyes. It tells you all you need to know from cloth preparation to safe working practice. It features new colour illustrations. This review first appeared on yarnsandfabrics website.

This book covers everything from the basics of setting up a studio to quite complicated recipes for dyes and instructions on how to print fabric. Much of it is aimed at those working professionally or studying textiles but the clear prose and bright pictures make it equally interesting for those pursuing textile art as a hobby. Particularly nice are the colour photographs of work from a range of artists, which provides inspiration and a nice contrast to the more theoretical bits of the text.
