Its a scrapbook, not a book on fashion embroidery. Hardly any text. Not what I was expecting. A bit disappointing but quite pretty. Not worth the full price.

For all those magpies, be they textile artists, embroiderers or working in another art form - you'll love this book. Karen Nicol trawls flea markets, museums and galleries looking for inspiration. She is a tour de force as a collector. She translates her finds and the things that inspire her into unique works of art. Here we find photos of sources of inspiration and also of what Karen created as a result of being inspired. Her pieces are embroidered textiles using vintage fabrics to create something completely new. She uses traditional techniques to embroider her work but the result is startlingly fresh and modern. She explains each technique and there are numerous examples of full page photos followed by a section with the same photos shown smaller, each having a brief explanation of the work. Most of her work includes flowers or animals. This book is an amazing pictorial insight into design work and a wonderful showcase of inspiring textiles.
