Great pocket sized book for kids about the more unusual specimens of the plant world. Good intro to 'what plants need'. The topic may help to inspire an interest in plants for a child who is not that impressed with gardening, through the interesting and unusual subject matter. For example there is the giant pitcher plant that captures and dissolves squished flies. There is the sticky, fussy sundews, that will die if you give them the wrong water. And the amazing fly trap plant with hair triggers that cause the special leaf to close and imprison flies. Has a map to show where the plants grow in the world and a detailed cross section of a pitcher plant and how it works. Love the ink drawings of unsuspecting fly victims.
