For anyone interested in the reality of war the associated collection of poems provides real and very moving insights. The York notes ensures the meaning and depth of the poems are fully appreciated.

This is a very useful tool. Whilst not providing analysis as such it outlines each poem and puts it into context. Very cheap and cheerful :).

York Notes are moving in the right direction from the old days for sure. This is well written clear and comprehensive. The author has worked really hard and is clearly very knowledgeable. Well worth the small cost if you are doing AQA, OCR etc - or if you are interested in World War I Poetry.

As always very useful information for a brief summary of poems. Students found it a useful text to use for their research.

This book helped a neighbour to tackle her assignments while studying the background to the outbreak of WW1 and the results of the avarice and greed that left Germans with a very bitter taste in their mouth and subsequently the rise of Hitler and the Fascist state.

This book is excellent and explores main and important poems of the first world war. Reading and digesting it two-three times will guarantee success in the exam. Don't only depend on this book but always have a poem book containing the poems in order to understand it better. Overall excellent book or guide

I got this for my son about a week before his A/S English Literature exam. He found it extremely useful and an invaluable revision tool for his exam.

Useful for understanding some of the nuances of the War Poetry. Also if you write poetry there are some issues that are transferable.
