I play this in the car when I am travelling to work and back. It covers the ups and downs of the World's most influential nation since World War 2 and right up to Obama's inauguration. It reminds me of events I lived through and puts in context those I was too young to understand. I have learned how Lyndon Johnson's progressive domestic ajenda, the woman he really loved was thwarted by "that bitch of a war in the far east" and how Ronald Reagan's cold war was won as much by his passion for disarmament as his dislike for the "evil empire". Full of revealing comparisons and insights, these disks are on their third playing. Radio 4 at its best and available on demand, we've never had it so good.
