Going into this Volume I wasn't Expecting to much After bring Gold it was the worst Batman Series in the New 52. It turned Out it absolutely Blew me away. Though the storlyline is Great, the Art by Tony s. Daniel is the best in the New 52 (in my opinion). Geht this for any dark Knight Fan over 12

I am completely loving this series, the artwork and story lines are fantastic. I don't have seven more words now.

Ok Detective Comics Volume 2 is a Mixed Bag Tony Daniels has Improved Significantly from Volume 1 which was not that good its only redeeming part being the Jokers 5 page Cameo

But in this Volume detective comics is starting to turn into what it should have been originally Batmans everyday crime fighting ...we have so many Different stories in this Comic..from featuring the Scarecrow ...to featuring the Mad Hatter to Black mask Heck even a new Villain was introduced.

NOTE if you have the NIGHT OF OWLS Book issue 9 [night of owls tie in issue] will be in both its not a very strong issue anyway ..but i feel it works better in this book than it ever did in the Night of owls book.

Because of the Range of stories it makes the book very engaging something Volume 1 lacked but because of this their is not one Arc spanning the book and in fact 3 different arcs

Because of all this and because Tony Daniels improved from Volume 1 I'm going to give it three stars this is what volume 1 should have been in my opinion

Also the three Bonus stories are very very good. the Two face story was good at shows more about his Character and its a neat Idea focusing it around Two face and not featuring Batman very cool.

The two stories showing Bruce wayne training to be batman and returning to Gotham where both equally good as well

and of course the last Bonus story which sets up a storyline for another Batman book where a familiar FACE will be returning ;)

and the Art
Because of the range of artists in this book Im going to give it 7/10 good art but the inconsistency between the art in the book hurt it in the long run

anyway buy this book..its better than volume 1 needs improving. Its a shame this was Tony Daniels last volume as it seemed he was improving from this volume anyway 3/5 is the over all verdict from me

I've been following the New 52 Batman titles since their launch and whilst Detective Comics has not been my favourite, its been decent enough. That said, I don't think that volume 2 is quite as good as volume 1 from the writing perspective, although the art maintains the high standards set by the earlier release. This volume includes Detective Comics 8-12 as well as Detective Comics Annual 1 and the special zero issue together with all the back-up Two-Face tales. In terms of presentation and quality of the physical product, it is a nice book but overall, I found the tales contained within a little fragmented for my liking.

The book kicks off with a one issue encounter with the Scarecrow which seems like a bit of a filler. We then get the Night of the Owls cross-over from Detective Comics 9 which the completist in me is delighted to have included but seems a little out of place - the follow-up from 'Tec Annual 1 is better but Batman seems like an extra in his own book! The zero issue gives us a great insight to pre-Batman Bruce Wayne but the best part of the book is the three part Mr Toxic storyline from 'Tec 10-12 which is entertaining without being a classic.

Overall, an interesting package but it is more of a collection of individual issues than a coherent storyline.
