I just finished the book. It's not just about big data technology demystified, but also for many other aspects like AI, building data strategy&team and data governance(GDPR) etc. I really enjoyed a lot of interesting case studies, examples and stories. There are hundreds of awesome facts/graphs which are very easy to follow-up. There are so many great ideas in the book, you might find one of your million dollar idea. At the ending of each chapter, there are takeaways and several great questions asked by Author which can help readers to put it into practice and think it deeper. Personally, I like chapter 2, 4 and 8 mostly as it talks about AI and 20 use cases on the big data.
I will keep this book and check periodically to find ideas and suggestions.
What I love about this book is that it starts from the basics, it assumes that you are reading this book because you are not a subject matter expect on big data and how it can benefit organisations. I've found it's actually a really great way to build your base knowledge before deciding to jump in on the topic of big data. David does a wonderful job of ensuring the book flows smoothly and entices the reader to continue deeper down the path of big data. I would strongly recommend this book for anyone who is thinking about big data no matter what your technical background, the author is well qualified to talk on the topic and makes it enjoyable to learn about.
I found this to be a tremendously useful book and one that I would certainly recommend to those C-suite executives who are looking for guidance on how best to leverage Analytics, Data Science and Machine Learning for their business. The author's ability to distil the complex into the straight-forward is also most welcome.
