Revenge of the Tide - Elizabeth Haynes
Genevieve decides that she wants to buy a boat, but in order to fulfil her dreams she works by day in a high pressure job in London selling software but thanks to finding herself really enjoying pole dancing, she finds a job over the weekends at a club as a pole dancer. What she doesn't realise when she takes on the job at the club is that it's not just a job that pays big money for her to dance, but it can also be a club that has a hidden agenda.
Genevieve is forced, by circumstances in her sales job, to resign suddenly and then she's made an offer she can't refuse, to buy her Dutch barge even quicker.
She spends months doing up the boat and enjoying the quiet life and friendships she's made in the marina, when it all comes crashing down around her head after her "boat warming" party, when Caddy, another dancer, is found dead in the water next to Gen's boat.
I'm surprised at how many one & two stars this book has received. I thought it was well written with a very involved plot that holds your interest right till the end. I think that Elizabeth Haynes is an extraordinarily good author who manages to come up with ideas and characters that certainly make you think about how "the other half" live. I've now read all three of her novels and they've all been brilliant.
