I read this avidly. Although none these guys had not done this row before the rose to the challenge and it proved to be one of the best achievements in Atlantic rowing. The book is a great account of their journeys and switches between the diary entries of each rower so you often get 4 perspectives on one event, fascinating and well written.
A great insight into the thoughts and challenges facing a group of 'everyday' individuals hoping to achieve something quite spectacular. The book details the diaries of the four men (plus one reserve) in their run up to and undertaking of the first ever four man crossing of the Atlantic in a rowing boat. It also contains suffucient technical data to make it a 'must read' for any rower looking to attempt a similar challenge. Would have been nice had there been more information on the effect the challenge had on their subsequent lives, hence only four stars.
This book is a must for everyone. An absolutly gripping read. The story of these four rowers is truely inspiring. The technical information is there for those who wish to follow in their wash. The read gives all all the lows and all the highs, from the concept of the ideas through to the completion at the finish line. The best ocean row book on the market in my opinion
