With a lot of interest in asteroids in astrology particularly amongst astrologers on the ground level this is really a great addition to their bookshelves. Outlining perhaps sixteen major asteroids in total, it focuses really on mainly four - Ceres, Vesta, Juno and Pallas, and then makes this into a outline of what she calls the Re-emerging Feminine, which has to do with the rise and rise of women since the end of the nineteenth century. She does this as well because the asteroids mentioned represent female deities. However it should be noted that these asteroids are also prominent in men, with particularly Pallas in creative individuals even more so than women, which perhaps gives an anti to her thoughts on this re-emerging feminine. Demetra George gives major aspect descriptions for all these four asteroids and gives examples of famous people who have certain delineations with these. a breakthrough book before any other books on asteroids arrive on the scene

If you're interested in asteroids and astrology, this book is a must-have. There are extended discussions of the four "major" asteroids, as well as briefer looks at some of the "minor" ones. There's also an extremely useful ephemeris of 16 asteroids, allowing readers to make this still-evolving field a part of their own practice of astrology. For George, the asteroids are a key part of a feminist astrology that incorporates a great many insights from Greek and Roman mythology. While the mythic dimension was often valuable, I sometimes felt that the asteroids had trouble standing on their own as symbols--ideally, the asteroid Ceres should be as independent of the goddess Ceres as the planet Neptune is from the god. One problem in any discussion of asteroids is that there are so many of them; it's not really clear why the 12 "minor" asteroids she includes are singled out. (The four "major" asteroids are the first four to be discovered.) She organizes the minors into male-female pairs, which is problematic; since the first asteroids were overwhelmingly named for female figures, the male asteroids tend to be rather small and obscure pieces of rock. Quibbles aside, this book is an important contribution to astrological literature and a useful addition to an astrologer's library.

This is one of the best astrological texts I have read in over twenty years of studying astrology. A wonderful blend of astrology, mythology and spirituality. There is a wealth of knowledge here, well detailed and illustrated. An absolute find.

Demetra has written the most lucid indepth description of how the goddess archetypes work in the individual's chart. This is an essential work for any astrologer

This was one of the only books I could find about the asteroids, but I'm afraid it's very dated (1970s) with constant recommendations that you seek therapy if your birth chart is configured in a particular way. It's also very reliant on the myths for interpretation rather than looking at real charts.
On the other hand, it does bring a lot of information about the asteroids together so still useful to have on your bookshelf.

Not happy with this book. It was not what I expected. Firstly, the goddesses covered are just the Ancient Greco-Roman pantheon. Secondly, the bulk of the book is made up of astrological charts.

This book was purchased to improve my knowledge of Goddesses in general and Avalon in Glastonbury in particular. The book arrived as promised and was in perfect condition. I have no hesitation in recommending Amazon to any one who needs to study this kind of information. The age of women's freedom is upon us. Blessed be.
