Excellent, just what I wanted thank you, I met Air Marshal Broom on several occasions when I was in the RAF at Tern Hill as PA to the Station Commander on the helicopter wing of the Central Flying School of which he was the Commandant at Little Rissington. A very nice man, I feel privileged to have known him albeit in a small way. Sadly, he died on 24 Jan 2003
I was looking forward to this book about one of the RAF's most brilliant and accomplished pilots, He was a great airman and leader, his story could be much better told than in this book. From the start it is full of cliche ridden sentences that turn off the discerning reader, a shame with such a great subject and story. The over-use of adjectives in most descriptive passages grates and are invariably redundant. In summary a poor book written about a great man with a good story. Someone should write a better book.
