This is not just another descriptive book on Tarot but genuinely groundbreaking work. The author beautifully combines the Tarot card symbolism with Jungian typology;ie;thinking, feeling, sensing and intuiting. There is an overview of Jung's ideas accompanied by a questionnaire to help you determine which is your strongest function and which the least developed. This is followed by each suit being attributed to a specific function along with detailed analyses of each major Arcana card. The minor cards are grouped by number then differentiated. There is also a section on the links between the Tarot and the Kabbalah which provides further methods of integration.
As a bonus, there are several unusual spreads as examples.
This book will take you deeper and deeper on your journey of your inner landscape .

When most people think of tarot, they naturally think of divination. While fortunetelling is fun to do, I have always thought that the tarot had much more potential for use as a tool in the spiritual quest. Therefore, I tend to use my decks for understanding myself and how the experiences that I am having relate to my personal journey.

The author of Discovering Your Self Through the Tarot also sees greater potential for the tarot. In this amazing book she pulls together the tarot, Jungian archetypes, and the Qabalah. Not only does she add some very useful layouts for spiritual and self awareness purposes but she also helps the reader assess where he or she fits into these schemes and what parts of the self might be serving as shadows or be unbalanced in an unhealthy way.

Discovering Your Self Through the Tarot provides the tools for self discovery and a place to begin a personal journey. The reader need only pick up their tarot deck and start the learning process.

I found this little book to be an interesting read. It suggests how the Tarot can be used to identify the way our minds work in relation to both the Jungian 'Types' - thinking, feeling, sensing, intuiting - and also to discover the workings of various archetypes. Little spreads and exercises help you to find which is which for you, and its quite fun, as well as revealing. Offers some interesting insights, whether you're a tarot reader or simply interested in Jungian psychology.
