I like this book and recommend it to anyone who is interested in the bass (even if you play contrabass, it is valuable and highly interesting!). The book starts with the early development and transition from the double bass to the electric bass and the major influence this phenomenon had on modern music. I don't find the book to be biased toward Fender, the author mentions and illustrates many other brands. Most striking is the dramatic effect that reliable, amplified electric basses had on modern music. A good read, well illustrated, objective.
A Great Book on the beginning of the electric bass in popular music. The adoption of this new instrument in the various styles of music, change the heart of music, with new sounds and textures. This book is a must for the persons, who play bass or have a interest in the history of modern music! I recommend this book!!!
