I read this book decades ago and just wanted to read it again. Alexandra David Neel was a remarkable woman who led a remarkable life. This book gives a glimpse into the unglimpsable

This brief book is really too brief to give much of an insight into these teachings, secret only because of their difficulty. David-Neel is not breaching any trust by trying to describe them, because even when spelled out clearly, unless the hearer has meditative experience, they are so radical as unlikely to be comprehensible. Therefor I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in the gradual progress of enlightening the West through magnificent explorers and thinkers like the author, and who already has at least some relevant experience. It might also whet the appetite for a beginner eager to go much deeper into these transformative teachings.

Although I am Buddhist I find it very difficult to understand. I am used to very clear teachings from Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's books.

I am noticing the similarity of present day quantum physics and some old world theories. I loved what Alan Watts had to say. I found this French philosopher/traveler's stories to be fascinating! Wish I could have traveled with her.
